Dalai Lama in Calgary
Graduating from UofC has its perks, special alumni events held at Hotel Arts, discounts on insurance and hotels, and being up-to-date on the latest events happening in the community. Here's something that caught my eye:
The University of Calgary is pleased to welcome His Holiness the Fourteenth Dalai Lama as their honoured guest at NOW – a two-day event and conference from September 30th to October 1st, 2009.
NOW is composed of three distinct events: At connect NOW, the public address at the Pengrowth Saddledome, His Holiness will speak to the future of our community - both our young population and our relatively young age as a city. Engage NOW is a two-day conference featuring an additional address by His Holiness the Dalai Lama, three remarkable keynote speeches, as well as other top level speakers at break out sessions, all examining the concept of community engagement. Listen NOW, the concert benefitting the NOW event, will showcase a private performance by K.D. Lang & guests.
Don’t miss this once-in-a-lifetime event.
Tickets to the public will go on sale
Saturday, April 18th via Ticketmaster.
Prices range from $25 to $75

Dalai and Friends
In the immediate arts and culture realm, the Dalai Lama brought some very impressive names out of the woodwork and onto the stage along with him in Calgary yesterday.
Bryan Adams and k.d. lang sold out the Jubilee Auditorium last night for an awe-inspiring post-Dalai Lama private concert.
With Canadian Olympic gold medalist Mark Tewksbury and TV star Sandra Oh introducing the two amazing Canadian musicians, it was a perfect way to wrap up a Dalai Lama-inspired day.
Thanks to the University of Calgary for making it all possible.
